AA Online Meetings are not really a substitute for the real meetings in the bricks and mortar establishments, but they are definitely a welcome addition to AA’s arsenal of resources for those looking for recovery from alcohol. There are also what is know as the AA loners which are members who live in remote locations and cannot get, or find it difficult to, attend ‘real’ meetings. They used to keep in touch by volunteers who would write to them, but now that most of the world has got access to the internet, letters, although nice, are no longer really necessary now that these loners can participate in live online meetings.
